Regardless of the role play at your interview – whether it is a pen or a water bottle or an idea – don’t stress – they just want to evaluate your understanding of the basic selling process.

The key things in my mind are that you don’t just start spouting off facts or features – you will want to start off by asking your customer questions to quantify and find out about their needs and knowledge of the subject – take time to find out what is important to them and then use that information to customize your presentation to the customer.  “Check in” with the customer as you are talking – and then be sure to ask for the business or “close” for the sale.
